About the role

The Site Manager of our grains and liquid terminal at Port Kembla manages an operational workforce of permanent, casual and contractor staff that together deliver a safe and effective service in the receival, storage, outload and handling of grains and bulk liquids.

Reporting to the Port Operations Manager, you will:

  • Lead, develop and coach a multidisciplinary team operating under an enterprise bargaining agreement
  • Perform and manage daily operational activities of terminal operators including rail / road intake and outload; ship loading; weighbridge operations; pest control and fumigation; control room operations; site upkeep and some site maintenance.
  • Support the management of fixed and mobile port assets
  • Coordinate the storage and throughput of all commodities in the terminal to ensure highest possible performance rates
  • Manage potential environmental risks associated with handling a range of products of a seaboard terminal
  • Provide excellent customer services that supports the terminal to secure new, and grow existing, commercial opportunities
  • Support the maintenance of quality assurance certifications and standards
  • Support adherence to budget targets through the cost efficient scheduling and planning of resources.

About your experience

Our ideal candidate has experience supervising operations in the logistics / supply chain function of a large-scale industrial or commercial site along with:

  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing teams under an enterprise agreement
  • Planning, scheduling and cost-effectively managing assets and resources
  • Good understanding, knowledge and experience in operational aspects of safety, health and environment
  • Good computer literacy and capacity to learn and adapt to new technology, software and systems
  • Capacity to work in confined spaces and at heights and willingness to perform operational tasks as described above
  • Bonus: experience gained in import / export operations; tertiary or vocational qualification.
