GrainCorp is currently seeking a Desk Assistant, based at our Barangaroo office, to enable accurate valuation of our trading books, timely and accurate verification of contracts and track settlement for our customers.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
- Running daily end of day valuation in trading system, ensure all trade positions for valuation date have been entered and all market data has been captured for accurate valuation.
- Sending daily and weekly reports to various stakeholders.
- Settle derivative contracts and perform a daily reconciliation of derivative positions. Work with traders, brokers or custodian for any unreconciled items.
- Verification of physical grain & derivative trade contracts against broker or counterparty confirm.
- Timely and accurate processing & invoicing of grain received/sold to counterparties for Track contracts and washouts.
- Work closely with traders, contract-coordinators and other business stakeholders for any adhoc request or to resolve any open issues.
- Early start time, 7:45am is required
About your experience
Our ideal candidate preferably has a relevant degree in agriculture, commerce or agricultural economics or has some experience gained in a trading environment.
Alternatively, you’ve completed your degree, can demonstrate a genuine interest in ag commodities/trading and a willingness to learn and grow in our industry.

- Strong attention to detail and respect for accurate and complete work
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work independently to plan / prioritise work
- Good communication skills as this role will collaborate with key stakeholders as required including traders, shared services, contract co-ordinators and the risk & commercial finance team
- Experience in Trading systems will be beneficial
