About the role

As the Port Operations Manager, reporting to the National Ports Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of the day-to-day operations at GrainCorp Port Terminals. The primary goal is to ensure the efficient, safe, and timely movement of cargo through the port, and to ensure that the port operates in compliance with national and international regulations related to quality, safety, security, and environmental standards.

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage the Ports costs and implement identified opportunities for efficiency without compromising quality, safety or delivery
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Manager to drive validation of the Weekly Works Plan to ensure appropriate planning of resources and task allocation
  • Monitor operations to ensure successful execution of the Weekly Works Plan. Drive alternative solutions where required and hold leaders accountable to report variances against the plan
  • Drive compliance of stock inventory (Commodity & Tarps) as per BPSM standards
  • Maintain regulatory approvals required to operate an Import/Export facility
  • Maintain connection with key customers and service providers to ensure key information is communicated regarding site operations

 

About your experience

Our ideal candidate has solid experience managing a port or related logistics facility (bulk commodities a bonus), underpinned by relevant vocational / tertiary qualifications in supply chain, agriculture or business as well as:

  • Ability to lead, train, and develop leaders to ensure high performance and a positive working environment
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and compliance in all commodity handling techniques and processes
  • Ability to oversee the efficient handling, storage, and transportation of grain. This includes utilising GrainCorp’s systems and tools to ensure leaders maintain accurate records, monitor stock levels, and ensure grain quality is preserved throughout the process
  • Proficiency in MS Office and aptitude for learning new applications / systems; ability to leverage data in decision-making.
