Area Manager - Northern Mallee

Employment Type:  Permanent (Full Time)
Business Area:  Operations & Commercial
Division:  Operations

A shared passion for our people.

Our people can be proud that, as a leading international agri-business, we provide an increasingly important service across the food and beverage supply chain.

About our team

GrainCorp connects more than 10,000 grain growers with local and international customers via Australia’s largest silo network, with a storage capacity of over 20 million tonnes, seven bulk port elevators and two specialty port terminals. Innovation, integration and partnership are the foundations on which we are growing into our second century with customers at the heart of all that we do.

About the role

As the Area Manager for our Northern Mallee cluster of country grain receival sites, you’ll work closely with the Victorian Regional Operations Manager to effectively manage the operational and maintenance aspects of these sites – specifically grain receivals and out-loading, grower relationships, maintenance and pest control.

In addition to extensive travel within your cluster of sites to oversee operations and liaise with site managers and their teams, this role will focus on community representation in order to maintain and build a profitable market presence.

Your key objectives will be to achieve and maintain financial and operational targets, provide outstanding safety leadership, manage costs and identify and act on opportunities to improve productivity.

Finally, and most importantly, you’ll coach and develop your site managers, providing them with the tools to nurture and grow their talent and encourage behaviours that reflect our values by role modelling same

About your experience

Our ideal candidate has people management experience, preferably in a supply chain environment (though not essential). To be successful you will need a strong track record in developing and maintaining customer relationships. With strong commercial acumen you will have the capacity to take on responsibility for your own P&L and will demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate people to improve service, safety and productivity.

Excellent communication skills coupled with the tenacity to increase engagement and drive a positive customer-led culture will see you succeed in this role. Tertiary qualifications in a business discipline will be highly regarded although are not essential.

A current, unrestricted driver’s licence is essential as is the capacity and willingness to travel in your area frequently.

Progressed candidates may be required to undertake a pre-employment medical. A current, valid driver’s licence is also required.

Do you share our passion for contributing to the success of a diverse, international team?

We aim to increase the diversity of our workforce – leading to a range of different thinking, perspectives and ideas that create the innovation we need to drive better business results.
