Hourly rate: from $28.70 p/h to $34.75 p/h (dependant on experience)
About the role
We are seeking a Grain Handler for a permanent position to join our team based in Hopetoun. At times you may also be required to travel to other local sites. This role has the potential for development! We will train and mentor you in the skills required to have a successful career with GrainCorp and in Agribusiness.
The core activities of a grain handler include:
- Sampling grain received at the site (spearing using automatic or manual spears and then testing for protein, moisture and contaminants against specifications, entering data into our system)
- Receiving sampled grain via truck at the weighbridge and entering weights into our system
- Monitoring the flow of grain from truck unloading and onto hopper, auger or other equipment
- Protecting and storing grain in bunkers or permanent silo storage (includes building, breaking-down and tarping bunkers)
- Sweeping, shovelling, blowing down dust and other general housekeeping activities including site presentation
- Operating equipment including augers, tractors, hoppers, loaders.
About your experience
Candidates will have prior experience in general labouring and have the ability to work in confined spaces at times. Experience in either agriculture, logistics, trades or construction. Candidates will also display:
- Good communication skills
- Safety-conscious behaviour
- A forklift, front- end loader ticket or an HR Truck licence will be advantageous
- Reliability
- Computer literacy
