About the role

We’re currently seeking several Pest Control Trainees to join the QLD Grain Protection team. We have roles can be based in Emerald, Miles and Goondiwindi and will service our grain receival sites in the region (our western most site is based at Roma).

Specifically, you will be responsible for monitoring and performing pest control and fumigation procedures in the region to ensure the general hygiene and cleanliness of GrainCorp storage facilities are maintained at a high standard.

The core objective of the role is to ensure that grain is turned out free of insect infestation while working in a collaborative team environment and ensure all OH&S procedures are followed. This position will see you obtain the relevant grain handling and pest control qualifications and you will work with experienced staff members to gain a broad range of exposure to fumigation methods used in both bunker and permanent grain storages.

Please note the successful candidate will receive relevant pest control training for this role. 


Position offered under our current enterprise bargaining agreement.

About your experience

Our ideal candidate has experience in pest control however this isn’t essential since we’re happy to support you to gain the relevant qualifications and training to undertake this work.

It is essential that you have:

  • A trades or services background and experience (for example general maintenance, fitting, electrical or similar)
  • Strong learning and problem-solving ability
  • Good communication skills
  • Deep commitment to safety / safe work practices
  • Above average computing skills are also needed.
  • A medium or heavy rigid licence is preferred but not essential.

In addition to providing proof of working rights and suitable professional referees, preferred candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical.
