Employment Type:  Fixed Term (Full Time)
Business Area:  Operations & Commercial
Division:  Operations
Location:

Coonamble, New South Wales, AU

A shared passion for our people.

Our people can be proud that, as a leading international agribusiness, we provide an increasingly important service across the food and beverage supply chain.

About our team

Our unique mix of agribusiness and processing operations connects grain growers with domestic and international customers, to process grain and oilseeds into food and feed ingredients. As the largest grain storage and handling network on the east coast of Australia, we operate more than 150 regional receival sites and seven bulk port terminals.

We store and market wheat, barley, canola, sorghum and specialty commodities, connecting over 10,000 growers with more than 1,000 end-market customers across the food, beverage, edible oils and animal feed industries. Feeding the world is a big responsibility and partnering with growers and customers to meet this challenge is what drives us to improve and evolve.

About the role

In season, Coonamble is one of our biggest receival sites, operating 24 hours a day. On offer is a 12 month contract to lead this successful site.

We are seeking an energetic and mature individual to manage the efficient day-to-day operations of one of our key grain warehousing / distribution site at Coonamble NSW. The core accountabilities of the site manager position include:

  • Occupational health and safety: managing compliance with GrainCorp’s policies, procedures and systems and driving a ‘zero harm’ safety culture
  • People leadership and development: role modelling GrainCorp’s values; driving increased engagement and capability in team members and administering people processes
  • Business performance: managing and maximising grain volumes, accumulation and availability, stock control and on-site transport
  • Financial performance: working toward targets on outload/inload, $/tonne, road haulage rates and other variable costs; supporting site financial plan
  • Customer relations: developing and maintaining deep relationships with growers, silo committees, the local community and other stakeholders
  • Quality: oversee implementation of site fumigation, pest control and hygiene standards
  • Maintenance: identify and report on maintenance requirements, prepare reports, maintain site presentation and standards

There are plenty of healthy challenges as a Site Manager in our country operations network and the timing is even better to experience the post-winter harvest period where you’ll be managing your permanent team of grain handlers, several harvest casuals and contractors.

About your experience

The successful individual will be an experienced Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager/2IC looking to step across to a site that's received record tonnage! You are known for consistently role-modelling the behaviours expected of our site managers: collaborative, customer-focused, self-aware and self-driven.  A current unrestricted driver’s licence is required as are basic computer skills. We’d value any additional training or skills you have in first aid and /or additional licences and tickets (e.g. truck licence, front-end loader competency, etc.) but this is not essential.

In addition to providing proof of working rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and criminal history check. A current, valid driver’s licence is also required.

Do you share our passion for contributing to the success of a diverse, international team?

We aim to increase the diversity of our workforce – leading to a range of different thinking, perspectives and ideas that create the innovation we need to drive better business results.
