About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Development, the Senior Analyst will be part of the Corporate Strategy and Development team, working closely with senior leadership to identify, evaluate, and execute strategic opportunities. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive the successful execution of projects, such as M&A transactions, partnerships, joint ventures, and investments. You will be expected to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, providing timely and accurate analysis, on high priority projects aligned with GrainCorp’s strategic goals. This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and opportunities for professional growth within the Corporate Development function.
What You’ll Do:
- Financial Analysis and Modelling: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial models and reports, delivering insights that drive decision-making.
- Strategic Opportunity Identification: Assess potential business opportunities, weighing risks and rewards to inform leadership decisions.
- M&A and Partnership Support: Play a key role in executing corporate development opportunities, including continuous assessment of the M&A pipeline to support GrainCorp’s strategic initiatives.
- Market Research and Insights: Provide valuable market insights that guide strategic decisions and drive business growth.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners to drive successful project execution.
- Leadership Exposure: Gain invaluable exposure to senior leadership and play an instrumental role in high-profile projects.
About your experience
Our ideal candidate is tertiary qualified in finance, or a related discipline and has demonstrated skills and experience in financial analysis / modelling / M&A / transactions along with:
- Demonstrated ability to conduct complex financial analysis and create detailed financial models to evaluate business opportunities and inform decision-making.
- Strong understanding of valuation and financial accounting principles. Solid comprehension of key financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements, and their application in business decision-making.
- Prior experience in managing M&A and strategic projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build complex financial models, conduct data analysis, and perform scenario planning. Expertise in PowerPoint to produce clear, concise, and professional presentations for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration and influencing abilities, with a focus on building effective relationships to drive results.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills with a proven track record of tackling complex business challenges and delivering impactful solutions.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, considering both short-term and long-term business impacts.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial models, reports, and strategic recommendations. A “completer/finisher” mindset, ensuring high-quality work is delivered on time.
