Site Manager - Roma West

Job Function:  Logistics
Employment Type:  Permanent (Full Time)
Business Area:  Operations & Commercial
Division:  Operations

Roma West, Queensland, AU

A shared passion for our people.

Our people can be proud that, as a leading international agribusiness, we provide an increasingly important service across the food supply chain.

About our team

GrainCorp connects more than 10,000 grain growers with local and international customers via Australia’s largest silo network, with a storage capacity of over 20 million tonnes, seven bulk port elevators and two specialty port terminals. Innovation, integration and partnership are the foundations on which we are growing into our second century with customers at the heart of all that we do.

About the role

We are seeking a capable individual to manage the efficient day-to-day operations of our grain warehousing / distribution site at our Roma West QLD site.

Specifically, you will:

  • Supervise the day-to-day work of a team of grain handlers operating under an enterprise agreement
  • Undertake grain handling duties involved in receiving, storing, maintenance and outload of grain
  • Manage grain volumes, accumulation and availability, stock control and on-site transport
  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with growers, silo committees, the local community, transport providers and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate with maintenance and pest control teams to deliver site fumigation, pest control, preventative and breakdown maintenance.

There are plenty of healthy challenges as a site manager in our country operations network including the opportunity to manage our post-winter harvest period where you’ll be managing several harvest casuals and contractors in receiving thousands of tonnes of grain from local growers.

About your experience

You may be an experienced site supervisor OR be looking to discover your potential and step up from a team member role in agriculture, building and construction, maintenance, technical trades, logistics / supply chain or similar. You are known for consistently role-modelling the behaviours expected of our site managers: collaborative, customer-focused, self-aware and self-driven.

A current unrestricted driver’s licence is required as well as good computer literacy and the capacity to work at heights and in confined spaces. Flexibility to work outside of normal hours during our annual harvest period is required. We’d value any additional training or skills you have in first aid and /or additional licences and tickets (eg. truck licence, front-end loader competency, etc.) but this is not essential.

In addition to providing proof of working rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical.

Do you share our passion for contributing to the success of a diverse, international team?

At GrainCorp, we value and respect the different perspectives and experiences our people bring to work each day. We aim to increase the diversity of our workforce – leading to a range of different thinking, perspectives and ideas that create the innovation we need to drive better business results. We aim to have a work environment where everyone feels included and everyone can realise their full potential.
