About the role
Saxon Agriculture (a GrainCorp business) is a vibrant and successful grain, organics, and seed trading business.
Reporting to the UK Farm Business & Seed Manager and joining a highly capable and collaborative team of business development and trading professionals, we’re seeking a Farm Business Development Manager to join us at our Swaffam office in a permanent position.
This opportunity will see you:
- Procure grain from new and existing growers on behalf of Saxon Ag (about 90 per cent of the role)
- Promote seed varieties, sell seed to, and place seed contracts directly with growers
- Grow and deepen positive grower relationships including regular contact and visits attending breakfast meetings and events
- Provide accurate production forecasting to the trading team through firsthand observation, estimation, and industry intelligence
- Assist growers, traders and logistics team during the contract execution process to ensure a market-leading level of customer service
- Work closely with the Saxon Trading and Farm team to develop and implement buying strategies and targeted campaigns for buy-back contracts
About your experience
Our ideal candidate has relevant grains industry experience underpinned by a high degree of commercial acumen, and a genuine passion / interest in contributing to the global food supply chain.
Additionally, you’ll have:
- Solid communication, relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong analytic, numeracy and problem-solving skills / ability
- Ability to work independently and remotely and with limited oversight
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office and capacity to learn new systems / technology
- Experience in dealing with farmers and an existing farmer customer list to introduce to Saxon Ag
